Ridge became the first Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in 2003, where he oversaw some 22 federal agencies and departments until he resigned in 2005. Served as Governor of Pennsylvania from 1995-2001. Elected to Congress in 1982, serving six terms in the House of Representatives. Formerly was an assistant district attorney in Erie County, Pennsylvania. Also is a director of Exelon Corp. and Vonage Holdings Corp. Also joining the Hershey board in a treorganization forced by the Hershey Trust are: Charles A. Davis, former head of worldwide investment banking services at Goldman, Sachs & Co.; Arnold G. Langbo, retired chairman and CEO of Kellogg Co.; James E. Nevels, chairman of investment advisory firm Swarthmore Group; Charles B. Strauss, former chairman and CEO of Unilever North America; and Leroy S. Zimmerman, senior council for Seamans Cherin & Mellot, who formerly served as Pennsylvania's first elected attorney general.
