A Message From the Publisher of Directors & Boards

We at Directors & Boards are committed to helping you navigate through this unprecedented crisis and guiding you towards a revived and renewed future. First and foremost, we all need to be focused on the health, safety and well-being of our families, employees and communities. With perseverance, ingenuity and compassion, our families, companies and nation will prevail.

Since 1976 D&B has provided thought leadership on corporate governance and has helped professionalize the field. For over four decades we have remained committed to providing you with the information, insights and tools to meet the changing needs and requirements of boards. During this crisis we will step up our help and support for our director community.

Through increased frequency and enhanced content of our webinars, digital newsletters and special reports, we will offer best practices, playbooks and platforms for managing through this crisis including how to communicate with stakeholders, manage operations such as cash conservation, adjust employee policies notably compensation plans, and access federal aid.

Beyond the immediate responses, D&B will explore how the crisis has opened up opportunities for new and better ways of doing business. These could include augmenting or jump-starting distributed online workforces, doing away with unneeded services and activities, assessing and addressing ESG responsibilities, and imagining and innovating new products and services that satisfy current customer needs and anticipate new ones.

For now, we have created a section on D&B’s website that will collect all of our COVID-19-related stories. All coverage will be free for all to view including a piece on how to manage risk in the face of COVID-19 and the results of a NACD pulse survey on how boards feel management is handling the crisis.

We are setting up ways for our director community to stay intimately connected by hosting virtual forums and by soliciting comments and advice which our managing editor April Hall will collect, collate and distribute in our weekly newsletter. By doing so, we hope and expect that we can not only address but also meet the needs and challenges facing both today’s and tomorrow’s board of directors.

Stay safe,
Bob
