Since 1976, Directors & Boards has provided information, insights and tools to meet the changing needs and requirements of boards and the increasing roles and responsibilities of directors. During the COVID-19 crisis we have stepped up our help and support for our director community through increased frequency and enhanced content of webinars, online newsletters and special reports. We are very grateful for the support you have given to advancing our mission.

I am delighted to share with you some exciting news which will greatly enhance our capabilities, reach and voice. Charles Elson is taking on the position of executive editor-at-large of Directors & Boards, helping David Shaw, publishing director, and April Hall, managing editor, oversee the editorial focus and content of our director publications and governance events. Charles is a leading authority and renowned expert on corporate governance who has helped to professionalize the field through his academic research, business publications and press commentaries. For the past two decades, he has been the Director of the University of Delaware’s John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, as well as the Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair in Corporate Governance at the University of Delaware. He is also vice chairman of the ABA Business Law Sections’ Committee on Corporate Governance, and has served on numerous public, private and nonprofit boards including Encompass Health and Blue Bell Creameries, as well as Directors & Boards’ editorial advisory board.

In over four decades, Directors & Boards has had only three executive editors, and we are very fortunate to have Charles as our fourth. We look forward to his helping us meet the needs and challenges facing today’s and tomorrow’s board of directors.
