Make sure management is asking the right questions. “Highly effective boards are comprised of diverse and inclusive voices that meld together to foster a culture of mutual respect and responsiveness. Directors should focus on ensuring management is asking the right questions in light of both the immediate and longer-term horizons. To do this well, directors must be steeped in the strategy of the business, the expectations and perspectives of its stakeholders, and the critical drivers of the company's success. This requires a willingness to be a continuous learner and the agility to pivot to changes in macro socioeconomic trends and rapidly evolving data and digital strategies.”
