Challenge the abandonment of DEI programs. “One of the most significant governance challenges that boards and companies are facing relates to external decisions and pressures on DEI initiatives. Recent Supreme Court decisions and other state actions have challenged or eliminated DEI programs, giving some companies a rationale to step away from their own programs. This has been particularly true for companies that only adopted DEI programs because of civil unrest in the past few years. However, companies that truly believe in DEI have generally not wavered in their support. It's important for board members to challenge those companies that have abandoned these initiatives.”
