Since 1976, Directors & Boards has been the premier journal of thought leadership in corporate governance. It has served as the most important forum for the exchange of expert information among corporate directors and officers. As the New York Stock Exchange's NYSE magazine has stated: "Directors & Boards is to the field of corporate governance what Variety is to show business."

Each issue of Directors & Boards is written expressly by and for corporate leaders. Published articles cover a wide range of governance and leadership topics (see Article Archives). Authors include active and retired chairman and CEOs, senior management, corporate directors, and board advisers (see Past Editorial Contributors for a representative sample).

While most Directors & Boards articles are commissioned by the editor, the journal accepts unsolicited manuscripts. It is recommended to contact the editor in advance, preferably by e-mail, before submitting a manuscript to gauge the interest in your already written article or your article proposal.

Lead Time: The editor generally works one to two issues in advance (i.e., three to six months from time of submission to article publication).

Response Time: The editor responds as quickly as possible to a submitted manuscript. Response time can range from several days to six to eight weeks if volume of submissions is particularly heavy.

Format: The editorial staff works in WordPerfect format, but manuscripts can be submitted in Word format or PDF files. Manuscripts received by mail will not be returned.

Article Length: Feature articles generally run from 1,500 to 3,000 words. Columns run 750 words. Book reviews run 650 words.

Guidelines for Digital Transmission of Author Photos:

• The image should be approximately 2" wide x 3" high (with the subject's
head approximately 1" wide within that frame).

• The resolution MUST be 300 dpi AT THAT SIZE.

• Files should be sent in .JPG file format at highest quality.

• Pictures should be black and white (but we can accept color images)

• Following these specs, the pictures should have a file size of <1 MB.

Anyone who cannot provide an image to these specs should send a print to the
editor.
